Given how much this cost and the use I had intended for it, I'm pretty happy with this. It has a few faults, though, and the most glaring is the focus wheel which they completely incorrectly label 'zoom'. If you want to make the subject bigger, you have to move the microscope closer. The 'zoom' wheel won't help. Of course, if you change the distance from the subject to the scope, you will need to refocus. The focus wheel is also a bit stiff in places. You can't help but move the scope off the subject while focusing, which is frustrating. There's a plastic cover over the lens which seems to roughly mark the closest focusing distance. It is handy for holding the scope against a flat subject at a constant distance. However, you can end up looking at all the imperfections in the plastic. Fortunately, it comes off. The LEDs ensure the subject is well lit and you can use the wheel on the USB lead to adjust the brightness. The big bonus for me is that this works on Linux without any drivers. Proper plug and play. The 'snap' button doesn't work for me but that's a minor drawback.Read full review

It'll do the job of peering in closely at something. LEDs are adjustable to 0 as otherwise they will obviously shine back on shiny items. A good bridge camera on macro zoom will be nearly as good. it's on a stand, which is very helpful; but it's a lever stand and ideally you need a stand that goes finely up and down using a screw since the act of adjusting the focus using the turner moves its position slightly, making it take a little longer to get a good image. If you're wanting to experiment delving cheaply into the world a bit more microscopically, this is a good thing to try. If you want to get a bit more serious, you'll need to get higher-quality equipment. d

Microscope is superb. With a bit of practice can easily get a good 1000x to check my turntable stylus or check record groove dirt. However, the stand is fairly dismal, i would have paid more for a precision stand that would allow for tiny adjustments. However, still very workable and great value. Just a bit more difficult to set thsn it needed to be. Microscope 5/5. Stand 3/5.

I dont normally feel compelled to write reviews However this little scope is outstanding value for money and impressed me enough to do so. I need to read extremely small print on electrical circuitry boards, and this is just perfik for that. Stamp collectors and the like will be blown away by the quality if full screen size images its so good that professionally printed text in documents looks like it was done with a spray can. if you want to see cell structures your going to be disappointed as you will be with the software that comes with it But overall 10/10
