Bought as a replacement for an ageing Panasonic DVD source which was always used as a CD player. I was surprised as how much more detail and soundstage was present in the Marantz, as it had cost half the price of the old machine it had replaced. It as a great partner for the Marantz PM6006 amplifier I was using, and a bonus you could use one remote to control both separates. I personally found like all CD players I've had in the past, it was still a little 'bright' on top notes and cymbals, but my listening is primarily geared for vinyl, however, I am fussy and picky on this issue. For a £200 budget player, I think Marantz have done a sterling job. Build quality is great too, easy to use and has CD text, which is useful. For the money, a great buy, and you'd need to spend possibly double to get a noticeable upgrade.Read full review

Marantz PM5005 Class AB amplifier in silver. Purchased for half price during lock down in 2020 to use with a pair of Tannoy Revolution XT6F floor standing loudspeakers in a second system in my home. It can sound over warm with certain sources but for the rated power of only 45 watts per channel it sure packs a punch, it's just not as open sounding as i like. One review mentioned that they were concerned that it ran warm, if you listen to the amp at low volume levels it never leaves the Class A amplification mode and the top of the amp will get warm, it cools down the louder you have as it enters the Class B amplification mode. I am used to my Marantz SA11s3 SACD player along with my Musical Fidelity NU-Vista 600 amplifier and B&W 805 D3 loudspeakers in my main listening room so i feel a better amp in my second room system may be the answer so whilst i find the PM5005 amp a bit to warm and safe sounding it's because i am used to far higher end Hi-Fi than this, but dont let this put you off as it is a fantastic little starter amp or great just to put your Television through with a single pair of speakers next to your TV.Read full review

I bought this amp while my Arcam A29 is having a repair and it is surprising good for the money, it is open, punchy and well made! Considering the cost it's a no brainer, I tried a Cambridge amp before this and it was dreadfully 2 dimensional,, well done marantz,,

This is a good AMP for the price, sounds clear with excellent bass and treble using Mordant/Short M20 Speakers.
