A little tricky to setup, but once you have read the online available manual you should be good to go. Plenty of HDMI slots of everything from a Wii, Playstation, Roku, Apple TV, Blue Ray etc, and multi-room audio output options as well. Denon in my opinion makes superior products.

I have been a loyal Onkyo customer for 20 years. I've owned many different models, the last was a SR608. The HDMI board went and they were not helpful at all. I always wanted to try Denon so I did a lot of research. It was hard for me to get away from Onkyo and I almost ordered a SR828. I'm so VERY GLAD I did not!! This Denon has taken my home theatre to a new level!! After having HDMI problems I was very leery of any model and it's HDMI capabilities. Turns out I had nothing to worry about. The HDMI switching and pass through work flawlessly. I'm an advanced user and do utilize most of the functions. Everything works great!! The integration via a netgear adapter to my home network is fantastic. Air Play works great and is a huge plus as my wife and myself are big Apple fans. Another nifty feature is the Deremote App I purchased (not Denons), it gives absolute control over all settings. The Audessy XT32 is another must have, it brought new life to my speakers. If you are considering this receiver do not hesitate!!! It was everything I expected and more.Read full review
I had a lot of concerns about the reliability of this unit, and buying this online to boot. So far they appear to be unfounded. This replaced an old Onkyo unit and is a great upgrade. It worked right out of the box and once hooked up to the network it really came alive. I love being able to play my music from my server drive though it would be great if Denon provided a music management app like "Media Monkey" or something within the unit. It does not provide you this and searching through your music using the remote is beyond tedious. You end up using your ipad and airplay just so that you can have better control of the music through itunes and get to your playlists etc... Video performance and switching is flawless. I used to hook everything up directly to the TV to avoid signal degradation through the receiver but honestly with this unit I could not tell the difference on my highly resolute Pioneer 60 in Plasma. The Audyssey Room correction was awesome too. My speakers just came alive for every source of media from basic TV to music to movies. It is great that they provide Audyssey as at this price point some others opt for less capable room correction systems. Audyssey is Cadillac of room correction IMHO. Menu navigation is a breeze, and signal routing presented so clearly my 11 year old daughter could figure it out. Amplifier sound quality is good, though of course nothing like you would get with separates. One other detail, at just over 15 inches this unit fit inside my rather shallow cabinet giving me plenty of room for the many interconnects. I loved that part too. So far, highly recommended.Read full review
I have two Denon AVR-X4000s and one AVR-X4100W. Each is great. It's the calibration and quality amps. You have to buy up to the AVR-X4400H to get similar sound quality with today's new models. Just a stunning Network Receiver that is reliable and Excellent.

I have mine set up as 5.1 w/front channels bi-amped on a pair of klipsch r82's, and this thing rocks! It's clean and detailed like nothing I've owned before. You can adjust almost anything you would want to, or not, just use the mic. and audyssey setup that comes w/it. Check out specs to know more, but this is a very nice a/v receiver for the price.
