So after being away from this hobby for 10+ years, I came back to new engines, sounds, and even more popular now, DCC, So I started reading reviews and reading articles on how DCC works. Seemed simple enough except I wasn't sure what to buy. I then started reading reviews from others on all the DCC Products and more importantly, the reviews of their Customer Service. The last thing i needed was unanswered emails if I ran into a problem. With that said, I decided to try the NCE Power Cab. This was really easy. The unit is set up for channel 3 by default. The engines are set to channel 3 by default when you buy them. Connect the wires, turn up the throttle and there you go. The engine starts to rev up, the bell comes on, push the button and the horn sounds. Simply simple to use yet, after reading the manual, you have other options if your engine has more options. If you're just starting out, this unit will make your life simple. There's also extras you can get such as a Booster if you plan on running more than say 3 sound DCC engines on your layout. The price, with the shipping cost, was less than getting it from an on line dealer. That, along with the no-hassle return if something went wrong, is why I choose to buy from a Dealer on E-Bay. Great Product!Read full review

I watched videos on this product versus the competition. I like the feel of this in the hand (the hammer head) and it is very light. I like the acceleration wheel; it is quite responsive and easy to control. I use two hands to control everything, but if you are familiar with the layout of the buttons you could probably control it with one hand. Very easy to set up.

I have run DC for 50 years, got tired of all the wiring under the layout when there was a problem. I ran a new set of bus wires and feeders cut the wires down more than half. Hooked up the power can and within five minutes had an engine running. Much better speed control, functions still learning but I have run my trains more in the last two days than in the past year this DCC is great wished I had done it ear!ier. I didnt need a big system this was fine for my layout and I'm sure Digitrax is just as good, NCE was cheaper and had good ratings also, plus BOB THE TRAIN GUY had the best price.

Great for getting started in the DCC system, price is right and very easy to set up. I did have one problem after I got it set up but it was my fault, I forgot to take my DC train of the track and put my DCC train on, it made me a little crazy until I thought about it for a little while, so it was just me forgetting to put the right train on. Works great. A little news for people that want to still want to run their DC trains on this track, you can still run the DC but you have to put in the address of 00, but if you have a train on the track that is (NOT) DCC, if you stop the train you need to take the train off the track as soon as you stop it, Because it will Burn up the motor in your DC train if you leave it on the track and not running it .

I can't even Spell DCC, much less understand how it works, but this NCE Power Cab is about as easy peasy simple as you could want. Hook up maybe 8-10 min out of the box. I Powered it on, and immediately, my Locomotive was idling, sound was on and it was waiting to pull out. Awesome... and the Flat cable is plenty long enough to walk around, without feeling like I'm on a leash. I Love it. But it's also loaded with Advanced features, and the spiral "lay flat" manual provides a "How-To" for about anything you want to do. Highly Recommend the NCE Power Cab for starting out in DCC. 5-Stars
