I first watched Serenity in 2008, and wanted more. Although a 'SciFi' film, it's like nothing else in the genre. Real life situations, with characters you can identify with, and a script that is full of brilliant humour by a cast that fits perfectly. What I didn't know is that the film was a follow up to a TV series called FIREFLY. Then in 2012 I discovered and watched the Firefly series completely; and this has to be the best TV series I've ever watched, in any genre! I have a limited DVD collection, but Firefly and Serenity are part of my collection. That's why I bought both. The film and the series get 5 stars; but I STRONGLY RECOMMEND watching Firefly first. It will greatly increase your enjoyment of Serenity.

Not the greatest SF film but an interesting attempt with some good plot twists. A bit too much of the Western film influence for my taste but far less than in the Firefly TV series.
