I bought this CD to replace a similar one that has somehow become lost, the original will probably mysteriously reappear now it has been replaced! Gordon Lightfoot is a talented song writer and singer, the words he writes are so meaningful, telling marvellous stories. I can recommend this album to anyone who wants to dip into the artist's vast stock of beautiful songs.

Only heard The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald before which love. Only an odd track three stars. He is Canadian and music reflects his roots. If you like Mark Knopfler type blusey folk this will be right for you.

Like many people of my generation (born 1960) and musical tastes, the music of Gordon Lightfoot had always been around - always in the background - but a chance hearing of 'Sundown' on the radio recently prompted me to buy a 'greatest hits' album. This was my choice and, to my mind, is the best available, including as it does the wonderful song 'Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald' (which Lightfoot himself, apparently, considered to be his best). Listen to this album on and be wafted back to those lazy, hazy days of the late 60's and early 70's - the golden age of the lyrical folk-pop singer-songwriter. Great service from Musicmagpie on Ebay too: the CD still sealed and delivered very quickly at a good price.
