This book is divided into four sections or segments. The opening chapter maps the fragmentary aspect of modern poetry. The second chapter contains elucidation of six representative poems of Yeats by and large traditional style. The next two discourses on Eliot's The Waste Land are informed by myth criticism and Bakhtin's Theory. In the last two chapters, Lawrence's two novels Sons and Lovers and The Rainbow have been intensively re-examined and re-evaluated from psychological, ontological, and linguistic points of view. The book has tried to show how, instead of supplanting traditional criticism, literary theory enriches it and adds new interpretive dimensions.
