Great David Lean directed film from 1945 written by Noel Coward. British Film Institute rate it has the 2nd greatest British film ever made. An amazing little jewel that has withstood the test of time. A classic film by a classic director and a classic playwright.

"Brief Encounter" is one of the greatest British movies ever made. It was filmed during the Second World War and highlights very accurately attitudes of the day towards romance and proper behavior by little know actors at the time. Although filmed on a low cost at the time it was directed by the remarkable David Lean who went on to direct the masterpieces of "Lawrence of Arabia", "Ryan's Daughter" and the ultimate, "Dr Zhivago". The digitally re-mastered version I purchased is arguably better quality than the original. A must see movie for everyone.
