The Synology DS418 is a fine product but does have some drawbacks that one should consider if you're buying a NAS for a multimedia deployment. Due to the Realtek processor that is quite new, Synology's package DB for this architecture is too immature to be able to utilize older/stabler packages (E.g. previous versions of Mono, there's only 1 release available). Use Case: * Originally bought it to replace my DS411J for CouchPotato & Sickrage Multimedia set-up * Changed it to Sonarr & Radarr usage but ran into some issues with architecture and Mono I wish I bought an Intel based Syngology NAS to be able to use Docker. Other than that it is quiet and I've paired it with 4x Seagate Ironwolves 4TB hard drives. Pros: * Easy to use UI / UX (DSM 6.0+ is great!) * Easy to Set-up & install * Quiet operation and Low power consumption * Synology's Package community is fairly active Cons: * Realtek CPU / Processor is immature on Synology's Package Communities * No native docker support currently * Synology's DSM OS may not be as flexible as other NAS OSs * Lightweight processor will not be useful for transcoding / encoding / other heavier tasks (Look at the Play versions)Read full review
