The Sennheiser HD 650 reached iconic status a decade ago and continues to represent one of the values in headphones. The MassDrop version of the HD 650 is for all intents and purposes the same exact headphone in a different color scheme, selling for nearly half the price of a new old stock HD 650. The HD 6XX, in spite of its 300 ohm impedance, is efficient enough to run from a computer headphone jack, yet scales quite well when driven from a quality headphone amplifier. In its MASSDROP incarnation the HD 650 remains better than ever!

It's a great set of headphones, exactly what I expected to get. I tested it on a keyboard, without using a mixer, the keyboard was not loud enough, with a mixer, the sound was incredible. So an amplified sound is recommended. I also had to buy a jack to hook it to my keyboard as my keyboard takes a 3/8 male not a 1/4 jack. I plan on having these forever. I love having a case come with them so they will not get broken. The sound is the best I have ever heard with a deep bass sound.

These feel great, with the over-ear design and earpads, and they sound fantastic. The fact that they are open-back headphones is nice as well, as they give you a larger sound stage with more realistic sounds, and this means they are more breathable and can be worn for longer periods of time without your ears getting too hot. These are a great set of headphones and if you are considering buying, don't hesitate - I strongly suggest them and they are worth every penny.

Sennheiser HD 650 is an excellent headphone. You hear a lot of music and the sound is very smooth and easy to listen too. I purchased the headphones because it has excellent reviews and it was rumored that the company was not going to make these any more. I listen to classical, rock, easy listening and big band music. Highly recommended. I also have the HD595, DT 880 purchased 6 months before the 650's,

I got these because I had purchased the Little Dot MK II all tube driven amp, and suddenly my beloved Sennheiser HD 598s were not enough to do this amp justice. These HD 650s are a beautiful combination with a tube amp. The 650s are known for coloring the sound and making it warmer. Tube amps are all about warmer. For me, this is a match made in heaven. I am enjoying a level of sound quality I've never heard before from headphones. Anywhere. If you're looking for the ultimate neutral sounding headphones, then keep looking. These ain't those. That would be the HD 600. These give the bass a bit more oomph, while still retaining the punchiness of the HD 600s. The mids are ever so slightly recessed. Many won't notice. The highs are crystal clear, and with the right tubes in my amp, they don't become tiresome after long sessions. These cans excell at rock, which is most of what I listen to, but hip hop still sounds bass thumpingly fantastic. Pop music sound great. Most genres of music will sound fantastic through these cans, especially when paired with an amp strong enough to drive them. At 300ohm resistance, you won't get anywhere near full sound quality by plugging these straight into your mobile device or computer. These cans require an amp. If you're looking for headphones that you can plug straight into anything and they'll sound great, allow me to direct to to the fine, fine HD 598.But with the right amp, these things are absolute gold.
