What I like about Ian Fleming's books of James Bond adventures that have been adapted in the 70's and 80's, is that the stories are so much more realistic than the movies. "Live and Let Die" is a good example of that. The story is linear, easily understandable, not convoluted like the movie, and you really feel that James Bond is in danger all the time. It's not tongue in cheek at all and he can't get out of those situations with a wink at the camera. A good read, with lots of observations on how the life was back in the 50's.
