This is a classic cookbook, full of Eastern European Jewish recipes. I bought another copy because the one I inherited from my mom fell apart with age. The author (Jenny Grossinger) ran a Catskills hotel (Grossinger's). While I don't know if these recipes were used at her hotel, many of the recipes are great. This is long out of print, so the only copies available are old. The copy I bought is also old, but in great condition, and I am happy to have it.

I am familiar with Grossinger's Resort. I'm from the northern Poconos , which is about an hour from the resort area. My parents had friends who vacationed at Grossinger's & we used to go there to visit them when they vacationed there. Grossinger's Resort was one fabulous place!

As with suziocala, another reviewer, we had a rather beat-up, falling apart paper back copy. I bought a new copy just so we would have it. We use Jennie's recipe for chicken soup which is always a resounding success. We neither keep Kosher nor cook particularly "Jewish", but this book is still a "Must Have" for us. It's a valuable reference that we occasionally turn to. You can't go wrong with the book or Jennie's recipes.
This is a compilation of all the Jewish recipes my mother, grandmother, friends and family made. The dishes are tasty, filling and delicious.
