This unit comes with a good shielded 3.5mm patch cable and PCI back plate for connecting with the external headphone port on a sound card. The shielding is important because this amplifier can pick up hiss from input and output cables. Modern high end ear-buds with flimsy cables pick up more high frequency hiss than studio headphones with shielded cable. I do not recommend my favorite KZ 01ED9 ear-buds with this unit but a good studio headphone made it acceptable. The unit seems to have a sealed case that cannot be opened if you want to debug it. The amplifier is great for increasing the headphone volume and produces a clean loud sound with headphones. The builtin speakers work fine with their limited frequency range. This is the best product I have found to amplify computer output for loud listening with headphones at a low cost. The unit fits in the 5.25" computer bay.Read full review

Cyber Acoustics CA-1001 internal speakers. 5.25 bay. February 2013. Pro internal: *No external wires or power supply outside computer. No external parts to get lost. If I move the computer, no second trip to set up speakers again. Sound is ok. Loud eanough for most home office needs. This is the only company I could find selling internal speakers. *Wire hangs out the back of computer and plugs into the line out green connector allowing to stil connect any external speakers. Mp3 player and head phones can be connected to front with your own wire. Included volume dial. Good if desk space and power outlets are limited. Includes screws, molex to small floppy power. Cons: Sound is not great, but always there and works. Might have to set your speaker output in windows. Signal to noise ratio could be better, but not bad. Could be connected outside the computer with your own molex power, but that kind of defeats the purpose unless you wanted to use it with a walkman or mp3 player. Wish they stil made white or beige. These speakers probably compare to lcd speakers.Read full review
I have now purchased several of these internal drive bay speakers and find that they are an inexpensive additional to any desktop computer. Their audio output is limited to 1.5 watt, but it is more than adequate for normal listening.
