Big plus, 5400 rpm in an IDE laptop drive is great. IDE is already out of production in new laptops. SATA with its faster buss is the future, but there is problem, new laptops are either windows 7 or 8 operating systems that do not support XP or older programs that so many people have. What to do? Buy NOS (New Old Stock), when you can, or tested warrantied used drives. Used drives as usually frowned upon by those in the know, but I have only been scammed by Bargainland, no longer on Ebay, thank goodness. Back to the drive. While there do exist several and few IDE hard drives larger than 160 GB, a 120 GB disc drive is more than plenty for a laptop, unless it is a desktop replacement unit. Oh, there is another uses, portable hard drives. Enclosures are available for under $2 and work quite well in an USB 2.0 environment. All in all, this day and age of low cost gigabyte drives, the 120 gb IDE drive is a dying breed, but this one is well worth it. I refurb laptops, Pentium III and 4 systems and have a few 2.5" hdd enclosures. Personally, these are great deals, as older small tablets and small optical free laptops are actually much better than newer netbooks. I think that the price is going to go through the roof, some day soon, as XP machines become passé. If you are looking at one and the price is below $40, buy it, you won't be sorry. I know that I am not. So, while it is not a 160 gb, it is much bigger and faster than the 20-80 gb units that were included with most laptops of just a few yrs ago.Read full review

I bought this product to replace my old hard drive because the old drive was gone bad with some kind of bad viruses. I could buy this new hard drive with the price less than the price that I had to pay for the repair. It was a very good product with low price. It was very easy to format and install programs. My computer runs very good now.
