Great value! It gives you essentially what you want for a small price. It's easy to use and carry, and although the touch screen is not particularly sensitive, it's easy to get used to. My only real complaint is that I have not been able to see the Junction View, which was one of my main reasons for buying this device. I am hoping that the recent update addressed this (I have not used it since I updated). Overall, the value is unbeatable, the directions are usually very good, and the features are hard to hate. I would recommend the Garmin without a doubt.
The Garmin 1390T is a somewhat expensive GPS unit at this functionality level. However, the extra bucks I paid for it is totally worth it - this GPS is much more powerful on perfomance and everything works faster than the previous models I have used. The satellite reception compartment is much more sensitive than previous models. Even within my house, it has reception with a error of less than 50feets. Outside, it is almost exact. Map moves flawlessly and zooms just to the right degree. The functions of this model is quite modest - basic turn-by-turn navigation with street names, junction view for interstates, and line assist for some major roads, plus TMC traffic. These features are good enough for general uses, finding and getting to different places when needed. However this is not so great for long-distance or really occational driving - it cannot sort destinations and cannot give you really prompt voice instructions (especially on freeways, it reads exit number only without the name of the exit). Junction view is quite useful, but it is only displayed for a few seconds, about 1 mile before the intersection. Generally, this model is a simple but yet performance-focused PND. If you do not require additional features like MP3 playing or 3D buildings, this is a great choice.Read full review
Works as well or better than older Garmin GPS. Even though this was a refurbished government item, the price to value was excellent. I particularly liked the unlimited upgrade feature. The touch screen feature is somewhat weak requiring several tries often. Other than that, I am well satisfied.

Traffic updates could be better. My smart phone has better traffic data. Map updates are lagging as a new road that has been open for about 1 year is not yet listed. Clear display, wish there were more options on colors and the Speed limit alert could be 5 miles over with a sound as opposed to just the speed flashing. The ECO side is very nice to track MPG and fuel costs. Also a great way to confirm your speedometer and odometer are accurate.
This is the third one I've had. That sounds bad, but they don't live forever. The first one lived over six years and Garmin doesn't support it anymore, so no more new maps. I keep replacing it with the same item because I'm used to it, I have the car charger and mount and I can get it for $20 on Ebay. I don't use my phone for my mapping, because I still need my phone. The Garmin is right up on my sightline so I can keep my eyes on the road and just glance at my directions.
