Have used linksys products for a very long time, so when I saw this router listed, I did not hesitate to buy it. After trying it out for an hour or so, the router would overheat and shut off. I looked online and realized this E2000 router has a lot of bad reviews. Just search on google for the terms "E2000 linksys heat" and thousands of hits pop up. The router itself has no heatsinks or fans in it, so heat will build up in it. The legs on the router only raise it a few millimeters off the ground, so the vents can't really dissipate any heat. One of the simplest solutions seems to be to simply flip the router upside down, so the unit has a chance to cool down. Other solutions I found online is customers drilling holes in the case, or modifying the router and adding fans and heatsinks to it. This is a bit rediculous. Sadder yet that a company could release this router and leave it on the market knowing how defective it is for so many years. In short a very poor product, to make it work effectively for more than an hour without shutting down, a customer has to modify it on their own. Save your money and buy a different router. Most of all do your research on the router before you buy it. Linksys should be ashamed for releasing a product like this. Makes me question buying items from this particular brand again.Read full review
I'm always skeptical about refurbished items, because you never know just how abused they were before you buy them. It's kinda like adopting a dog from the animal shelter - they look nice and friendly, but there's always the possibility that they will rip your head off in the future. For household items like a router, I'm ok with that if the price is right. This one has been a home run so far. I have a desktop, 2 laptops and a network printer for my home and home-based business. This router takes anything I can throw at it like a champ. Excellent product!
Router arrived with ddwrt already installed, and has worked like a charm since day 1. In the process of receiving another one to experiment with 5ghz band.

The Linksys E2000 is a good plug and use wireless n router. The price is right ..not too expensive and you can still find good deals on them. You plug your desktop to it and the rest of the household can use its wireless. The wireless reception is very strong. It did the job for me.
I re-flashed this with tomato firmware i like it better than dd-wrt but both are awesome. This little device is golden
