There are many things that The Sims 2: Open for Business expansion pack brings to the table: there are new lot sizes, clothes, hair styles, over 125 new items and best of all... Elevators! Even the best item from the Sims 1, the Servo robot, is back in this expansion pack. However, it comes at a cost. If your computer already ran slowly from the original Sims 2, it will occasionally crash due to all the extra content on this (it has happened to me once and I have a relatively fast computer.) The main point of this game however is to run and operate your own business. Maxis did a great job incorporating the aspects of real life into your Sim life. You can now open restaurants, night clubs, salons, and retail stores, some within your own house. Some of the better aspects include hiring employees, gaining retail experience, and brand new business related perks. Pretty much the only bad thing about this expansion pack is the extended loading periods due to the extra content. This is a great game for anyone who loves the Sims. Though it is challenging at first, you'll eventually get a hang of it and start to run into some serious money. Go out and buy it! 4/5 -cantstopgamerRead full review
The Sims 2: Open for Business is an EP(expansion pack), you must own the original Sims 2 game to play. This EP allows sims to run and own their own businesses from home or a community lot. Some of the business options are restaurants, salons, flower shops, toy stores, electronics stores, bakeries, auto dealerships, and lemonade stands. As is typical for an open-ended game like the sims, options for store types and products are limited only by your own imagination. Sims can now perform new jobs based on the stores you open. These jobs include sales, cashiers, salon stylists, stockers, and factory workers. Sims earn badges to move up in the work force and thier talents increase over time with thier work experience. Both NPC's (non-playable sims including townies) and your own neighborhood sims can be hired, promoted and fired as workers in your store. While creating, building and running stores is both fun and addictive, after a while the task can become tedious and repetitive. It is for this reason that Open for Business is not a personal favorite EP. Compared to Nightlife, University, or Seasons, it does not stand the test of time. However, if you are a sims addict, DO get this EP, it is fun and you will enjoy it. But if your budget only allows for one or two expansions, there are better options for your simming pleasure.Read full review
This is an add on to the Sims2 series. If you are familiar with the Sims, this expansion let's the character operate his/her own business. You can purchase property in a new neighborhood or start a home based business. There are quite a few items in the buy mode and build mode that make it fun but I have downloaded more items to use this expansion than any other. At first, having not read the entire instructions, I purchased a lot, built my busines and then could not get back to her home. When I went to the neighborhood screen I got a message that 'x character' is at 'x' and it was the business lot. I could not open the character in the home. Using the new neighborhood solved that and I haven't tried to figure out what was happening in my initial play. Overall this is a fun expansion to the game and I would purchase it again.Read full review
Great expansion pack--it adds a ton of new stuff to the game. Opening businesses is challenging, fun, and addictive, especially because you can basically do whatever you want (sell almost anything available in Buy Mode or make things yourself, plus restaurants and more...). Aside from the businesses, the game also adds loads of new skins and interesting building options such as elevators and split-level foundations. It's very refreshing for a veteran Sims player, and for a more casual player it's just a lot of fun. This is easily my favorite expansion pack to date.
I Love this expansion pack! It really adds demention to the game. I plan one day to open up my own vintage clothing store, so this addition was great for I can, in a way, plan how I want my store. I just LOVE it! It really is a good game. Also a great thing about this expansion is that it comes with the Elevator Option which is very nice to have. Now you can put classy elevators in your homes, and if you have vacation, your hotels! Its cool.
