Sadly, camera I received unable to take pictures or load film because mirror locked-up and could not be lowered even after using new batteries. Unsuccessfully tried using "mechanical" shutter speeds as "100x" and I think "B". I even explored on-line about similar problem if "touch switch" (front of body to activate light meter) not used where mirror/shutter lock-up occurs unless this switch is pressed while advancing film. Even so, when lock-up happens a 16-sec. exposure should occur and then mirror will drop back down. This didn't happen. Very disappointed that I had to return to sender.

First I must say I'm a film enthusiast that's infatuated with old school technology. Minolta hit a home run with this one. A true proffesional tool that can be used both fo photography and self defense, it's truly built tank tough. The only shortcoming is it does not have a motor drive as the description about it states. I believe this to be a flaw by Minoltas engineers as other professional cameras of the era did. Minolta reengineered the XK Motor by the drive was not detachable. This does not bother me in the least. If you want a true work of art of yesteryear, this is a great candidate. I have Nikon F2's, Original Canon F-1's and I'd put the XK against any of them.
