There is nothing not to like about the phone’s appearance: the Incognito is a sleek rectangular clamshell with a silver mirror finish on the front, and a flat plastic finish on the back. The front panel actually makes a good hand mirror-when not in use; with a downward flick of the side button, the silvery mirror like faceplate comes alive: date and time, services in use, and a numeric keypad glow brightly. This touchscreen is quite sensitive, and you merely touch, not push, the faceplate to dial in a phone number. You can also file through your contact list from the faceplate, receive calls and oversee bluetooth tasks. There is a slight buzz sensation when touching numerals and the directional and OK buttons that you see glowing under the silver, assuring that your tactile input has been noted. There are side panel inputs for data/power USB cable, micro SD card, and headphones; all of which are covered with rubber plugs which fit flush with the cover for a smooth look and feel. There’s a 2mp camera mounted on the back, and a square speaker grille, along with the battery compartment. This phone has a solid feel to it; not a cheap, cheesy feeling, like the hinge is going to break, or a screw is loose somewhere. When you snap the phone open to access the QWERTY keyboard, you hear a smart click, as it snaps firmly open. The inside screen makes you wish it were bigger. There is no question the camera and video could be better. I have no issue with the sound quality of the Incognito; reception of calls is about normal for cellphones, the speakerphone is quite crisp and clear, and the MP3 player has EQ settings which sound good just coming from the phone speaker. You can’t use the music player or the EQ until you have a micro SD card installed; music files don’t download to the phone’s internal memory. Finally, what I like about this phone is that it comes with a few nice applications like facebook and yahoo messenger. It also comes with a myspace application and local city applications. So whenever I’m not using my phone I have other things that I can do. I think the only thing I don’t like about the Sanyo Incognito is that outside of the applications that come with it, there aren’t any others. I want to get more applications with the Sanyo Incognito. The Blackberry has this phone beat when it comes to applications.Read full review
I bought this phone and got a good deal on it. I like this phone, except that when someone calls you have to flip the keyguard button on the side then press the green button that appears on the front. If you dont do that, you have to open it, press the green button then close it and talk. And you cannot just put ringtones on a memory card and use them on this phone, you also cant bluetooth them to the phone and assign them as a ringtone, which sucks. You CAN bluetooth or put wallpapers on a memory card and use them, they are best when viewed at 320x240 resolution. The front of the phone is a fingerprint magnet, so be prepared. This phone comes with pre-loaded features from boost such as navigator, yahoo, myspace, facebook and a descent web browser. I downloaded Opera Mini for my phone I didnt care a lot for the browser the phone came with myself, it was kinda slow. Only other thing I dont like about this phone is the color, Sanyo could have made more than one color for boost, which is silver or gray however you want to look at it (they make a black phone for Sprint). There are lots of covers, and screen protectors out there for this phone also, it takes the newer style motorola charger or LG charger which ever is handy. Also take care of the charging port/memory card covers they will eventually not fit on correctly and will need trimmed to stay in place.Read full review
If purchased new (Obviously, I bought mine off Ebay so I didn't pay full price) the phone would be pretty expensive for a fairly low end feature phone. Works very well. The only complaint I have with it is that when you receive a phone call the buttons on the front don't light up so that you can answer it. You have to find a little switch on the side to light them up. Hard to do in the dark (or daytime for that matter)...especially since the phone looks the same right side up, and upside down. Over all a pretty good phone. The Keyboard is very well done - I have large hands and the keys are still easy to press and I rarely hit two keys at once. Sound quality is good. Web Browser is a little weird, and the LCD (which looked a decent size in pictures because of a black border around it) is pretty small for any real surfing, but that's not the phone's intention. Works just fine for a little dabble into the internet here and there.Read full review
I bought this model because it will work with my car's bluetooth. Personally it is a prety, phone, has many wonderful functions, but it is a big change to get used to it's closed usage mode. I believe eventually once the functions on the mirror screen become easier to work with; that in the end I will love it. Right now; it is cumbersome. It works great with the bluetooth in the car but using the handset is quite a big change Those who have used this phone will know what I meen. I have used many types of cell phones since 1996, so it is not that I don't know what I am doing, but that the hidden screen effect; this phone is deffintely named "Incognito" for very obvious reasons! In the car it is fabulous.
The review calls the Incognito a smart phone. It is not a smartphone. At least Sprint does not consider it one. If you are considering this over your blackberry, palm, or htc: Don’t. Especially if you are spoiled by your smartphone’s features. The freezing is almost always due to people downloading games, ringtones, etc that are from a 3rd party (read: not Sprint or boost). There are glitches in 3rd party dowloads that will mess up your phone just as downloading music and programs from random sites onto your computer will screw it up. If a 3rd party item messes up your phone, it voids the warranty. If they send you a replacement and find the glitch in your old phone is from 3rd party items, they WILL BILL YOU FOR THE NEW PHONE.Overall, this phone is meant to be a cheap phone that looks like an expensive one for parents to get for their kids. It’s not for people who use their phone for work or business and need to e-mail and download documents frequently.Read full review
