This is an excellent book that details one of the monumental battles of WWII, specifically, and the history of warfare, generally. Nagorski gives a great overview of the circumstances leading up to the battle, from both sides, details the roles of influential characters and chart the battle's course. Through vivid pros, Nagorski brings to life the fight for Moscow and restores this pivotal battle to its rightful place in history, which by its very length and apparently indecisive outcome has become eclipsed by other titanic conflicts on the Eastern Front.
