This was a demo model so it arrived with a few signs of wear but everything fully functional and all attachments included. I believe there are newer versions of the Animal Canister that may have a few upgrades. I bought this because we wanted a light but effective canister for up/down stairs, for pet hair, and liked not having to buy bags. And on the ebay auction we got a fairly good price, far better than new or in local stores. Likes: good suction, lightweight, easy to maneuver and use on bare wood, tile, carpets, rugs, stairs. Don't think it grooms carpets as well as our (more expensive) upright, but the Dyson is easier to use in our mixed floor conditions. Maintenance is fairly easy, even cleaning the HEPA filter every few months. Dislikes: none really but it is probably best to empty canister into trash bag outside as a bit of dust kicks up.Read full review
We have a French Bull Dog and a Chahuahua and both shed like crazy. We also have an indoor cat and doggy sit our daughter's long hair Dachshund two days a week. We've always had the best Kenmore canister with beater brush vacuum which worked great until I vacuumed up laundry detergent and ruined it. I had read the Dyson reviews and good friends of ours bought an Animal Dyson from Costco and loved it. When I found the refuberished canister model at an exceptional price I decided to try and I am so glad I did. The first time I vacuumed our entire house a day after I had cleaned the carpet I emptied the vacuum three times. It has remarkable suction and the beater brush goes deep into the carpet to pull out animal hair. Since then, I have purchased other attachements and find it does a remarkable job on furniture and bare floors. A new Dyson is expensive however, I think they are totally worth the money,Read full review
We love the suction power. Love the ability to get under furniture & beds even if close to the floor. Wish list : Ability to raise & low motorhead. On/Off switch on the hose handle. Ability to attach bare floor attachment to the vacuum for easy access while using the vacuum.
This vacuum has lived up to the "hype". It is amazing how much stuff it removed from our area rugs in our bedroom. The pile of the carpet actually has been lifted up and has brightened with all the dog hair and dirt that was removed. One advantage of this over the DC21 is the canister emptying from the bottom of the tank. You hold it over a trash can, press a button, and the bottom opens up. It has a powered beater rug attachment, a hard wood floor attachment, and a tile floor/fringe rug attachment. Then there's the 3 smaller on board attachments. It's hard to find for sale in the U.S. and is more expensive than the DC21, but I got a great deal on ebay so I can't complain.
Dyson owner for over 10 years and would never own anything else!!! Worth the extra money!!!
