Cost is super and already had a win7 OS DVD . but key was from a used PC and got an error message code to call Microsoft . Set up was not that easy . Its a pain in the butt calling MS and have to enter a 3 digit code to talk to the MS IT PC then read off 9 blocks of number then write down A-B-C-D-E-F-G- blocks and enter them on the screen then click send to see if it went well and get a activate OS message . Takes maybe half hour in all to do this . But got the OS activated . and it works . Key was from a junked out former PC . and key was recycled But its cheaper than buying a new key .

I needed to activate again windows 8.1 on DELL (the hdd was damaged and sticker badly damaged). So I purchased the key as a legitimate item for an existing licence. After I received the key in an email I kept searching the net and I found a way to actually recover the product key from the laptop's MB. AND I was able to recover the original DELL key... so the purchase became kind of obsolete but I used the key to install OS on another laptop (hp probook with win 7 pro licence but running already LINUX DEBIAN 8). The install (of MS proper download .ISO) accepted the purchased key right away as a WIN 8.1 PRO but I did not activate the install as yet - I might use it on another pc/notebook in a near future. Although the install of the WIN 8.1 PRO is not activated yet the installation process accepted the key (generally if something is wrong it is rejected right away) so I assume that the key is legit.
