Das Objektiv hat einen sehr großen Erfassungsbereich vom Weitwinkel bis zum Supertele. Im Weitwinkelbereich fehlt manchmal der letzte Dreh, um alles drauf zu bekommen. Mit ein paar Schritten zurück kann dies meistens aufgehoben werden. Der Telebereich ist absolut ok. In Verbindung mit dem Bildstabilisator und einer guten Kamera (nütze die EOS 7D) entstehen sehr gute verwacklungsfreie Fotos. Zu Bedenken ist, dass dieses Kameraset zusammen rund 1,5 kg hat und deshalb ein nicht zu unterschätzender Reisebegleiter ist, der auch getragen und verstaut werden will, was mir speziell am Abwicklungsstand im Flughafengelände auffiel. Da erreicht das Handgepäck auch schon mal die 6kg-Grenze. Etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig ist auch die Größe des Objektives im Telebereich. Ist das Objektiv nicht ganz auf Weitwinkel zurückgedreht, geht es von selbst heraus, wenn man die Kamera zB. zum Betrachten der Bilder am Display nach unten hält. Ungewöhnlich ist auch die andere Drehrichtung gegenüber den Canon-Objektiven. Alles in allem aber ein zuverlässlicher Reisebegleiter mit großem Einsatzbereich zu einem attraktiven Preis, welcher das Mittragen von zusätzlichen Objektiven egentlich als unnötig erscheinen lässt.Read full review
This lens is a precise optical instrument. I heard alot about the new Tamron hyper-zoom and it happens in the right moment that my former zoom lens used with a Canon 350D broke (the zoom ring blocked and a repair was expected with 145EUR). Although the old lens was optical OK I decided for a new one instead of having it repaired. The Tamron is a very fine and precise working lens system. The Piezo- drive autofocus is fast and absolutely silent working. For long focus lengths the stabilizer is optimal, fast and also pretty silent. I am very happy with this new lens, especially with the weight (app. 600gramms only) that it makes the lens including the camera body to a light-weight operable system. The optical performance is great, 270mm (that will be comparable to 420mm in a full-size-sensor camera) - and 18mm (comparable to 28mm)- and neither in wide-angel nor in Tele range the optical failures will be rcognised on a 7x9in or even larger printout. So far I have no negative experiences with the new zoom lens.Read full review
I read a lot of reviews before buying this. I already have a Nikon 18-200 but wanted the extra zoom for wildlife etc. I had considered the 700-300 Nikon but this Tamron had better reports PROVIDED I chose the upgraded VC (vibration compensation) version. I have not had a chance to use it yet at its full range and I will update this review later.

Used it for a South Africa Trip. Concidering the low price it delivers a good picture quality with a nice bokeh. Also the macro feature is really usefull for tiny subjects. Focus motor of course to loud for movies (No PZD or USD) and focusing speed average.
This is just a great product, lets you shoot also from very close ranges indoors and also reaches X15 zoom outdoors without changing lenses. I just visited a water park and took there amazing photos of my daughter. I had to shoot from some distance avoiding to get some water on my camera. Not for ladies - this lens quite heavy.
