I have a standard zoom lens with bad standard apertures (3.5-5.6), so I needed a lens producing more backround blur for portraits, close up shots about flowers, bugs around 50-80mm focal length, so this 50mm (equivalent 75mm) looked for the best choice for me. It is cheaper, then the 35mm (equivalent 52,5mm), and also gives a better focal lenght to my taste. The image stabilisation is a fantastic feature, a lot of 50mm lenses do not have it. In low light situations you can spare 3-4 ISO steps, which means a great amount of sparing noise on your pictures! So it is a small, light, having great image quality, images stabilisation and 1.8 maximum aparture. It is absolutely recommended to have one of these, if you want more exciting and more professional looking pictures.
