My monster Alpha 2 failed so after reading many reviews decided to order one of these. I have a Micro Benz Silver , a Dynavector 10x5 and a Denon 103 to compare. The Dynavector is too percussive and not natural. The Denon is smooth but rolled off at the extremes. The Micro Benz sounds nice but not nearly as detailed as the AT33. My Monster Alpha 2 had a super deep soundstage with the ET2 arm. The AT33 is almost as deep but much more detailed and punchy. There is a synthesizer at the beginning of one song that could not be heard with any of the other cartridges. Its a tiny bit bright but I haven't loaded it down at all. Excelent for rock Jazz and Acoustic. Love it!

Audio-Technica manufactures outstanding phono cartridges that out perform just about everything in their price range. This cartridge is no exception. Solid and quiet throughout the audio spectrum, it often has me thinking I'm in the studio with the musicians. I'd compare it to the Ortofon 2M Black, but seems a bit stronger with the mid to low frequencies. This is my first low output MC and still breaking in, but I'm confident that the sound is only going to get better. At this price, it's an absolute steal!

Sound very close like my old AT OC9. It was 30 years young. This new has more tight bass and treble more realistic. Alltheway fine cartridge. Hope it last next 30 years.

The AT33PTG II is a great cart that is reminiscent of the mid-forward house sound that Audio Technica is known for. The detail retrieval is good and the bass is excellent. Compared to the OC9xml it is less bright sounding and a bit less flat, however I would not describe it as colored or "fun sounding". Setup with this cart is a bit trickier as well since the body of the cart is not threaded like the OC9xml and seems to require the faces of the screws to be mounted on the underside of the headshell. I tried it on a couple of record players and found that aligning it was a lot more trial and error than I was used to. After a few tries I was finally able to get the channels balanced within +- 2 decibels. Both the tables I use were pretty much maxed on overhang for baerwold. Lofgren was not possible, and I personally don't like Stevenson, so your mileage may vary with regard to setup. Vollständige Rezension lesen

This cartridge produces great sound for the discriminating listener. First off, most people do not have perfect acoustics in their listening room, the best system ever produced or the best turntable available at any price. But if you have really good stuff but haven’t invested your life savings in your equipment, you should be thrilled by the sound quality. Since it is a low output mc cartridge you are going to need a good pre-amp, preferably an adjustable one, suited for a mc cartridge. Basically it is going to be a better sounding cartridge than many listeners ever dreamed of. If you’ve been buying $6000 cartridges you might be disappointed but if you’re in the market for an excellent cartridge in the $200 to $1000 range, you’re probably going to be very happy with it.
