I bought the Blackberry Torch 9800 on a recommendation for an existing user. I particularly wanted a solid reliable mobile phone with a separate qwerty keyboard. I had previously had a Nokia E6, which had a fantastic in built user guide, but the screen was far too small. I tried a Nokia N97 but the keyboard layout just wasn't right. The Blackberry Torch screen size is much better and great quality, even on a second hand 'phone. All the above 'phones were in replacement for my contract 'phone, a Samsung Galaxy Ace. Whilst it is a very good 'phone I can't use touch screen key pads. I'm forever selecting the wrong letter, when texting. One thing I don't like with the Blackberry, which I wasn't aware of before purchase, was Vodafone's policy of charging extra for 'nothing'. I was having difficulty accessing the internet on the browser, Vodafone Help Line told me that was because I was using a Blackberry and therefore not covered on 'my Plan'. It was another £5.00 a month, just because of the handset. I found a work round.(incidentally they knew what phone I was using, to the model without me telling them: disturbing). On my plan I can't use BBM but not a problem to me I'm only a low volume user, no business use. Another disappointment is the processing speed. Had I done more research I would have bought a Torch 9810 with a faster processor; my fault. Generally a very nice 'phone that is adequate for my needs but as it's old technology for example The BBC 'no longer support playback on this device'. None of this reflects on the ebay seller.Read full review
I have had many models of Blackberry but the Torch is top of the league! It is as they say “fully loaded” Semi touch, the sure touch is precise and accurate making it in my opinion the most simple to use in all applications, fantastic web browsing with pinch & zoom . Multiple open and tabbed websites. Keyboard as the Bold, easy to use. The 5MP camera is great too, fantastic quality day or night. Has all the social feeds integrated to the phone such as Facebook so you have a constant link to them. Battery life is Ok but not quite the 5 hours talk time as stated In general, the software is great in all aspects. Overall, i’d recommend this phone to anyone. Blackberry will find it hard to come up with something better!
The look and the feeling of this phone on your hand is magnificent, I just love it. However there are two concerns: 1. When the slide is closed, the headset is not very solid, it moves when you touch, like to separate pieces not linked good together. 2. This is the most important, it is impossible to use APP WORLD in Albania, neither can I download apps for my phone via PC, because in Albania it is merely impossible. This is completely unfair, because I can not get even the free application. This is something Blackberry mus fix as soon as possible, because I buy this expensive device, and I can not practically use it. Otherwise this phone is great
I love this phone and never used to like blackberry. I have all social sites and all work and personal emails set up on the phone which is great. picture quality is really good also
I thought that this would be the second coming of the lord , an I phone stuck to the top of a blackberry It really is t much better than the curve ....and the new operating system is a huge leap forward for blackberry ,but still nothing on apple ......the lip on the bottom of the phone makes it very hard to type anything on the keyboard with adult fingers .....and the screen is frustratingly slow .....
