I have used a couple of jigsaws before. I really wanted one with a laser cutting guide, but they seemed either cheap or expensive. Anyway I seem to be doing ok using the loop guide on this tool. The motor has variable speeds controlled through the trigger, the motor is very smooth in operation. It feels Makita quality, but at an affordable price. Stunning quality.
Build quality is obvious from the first touch and sight! Although DIY price this tool really seems to have the feel and performance of a professional one and I would be expecting the known durability of Makita to give this tool a long life. So glad Makita decided to put their retro technology to good use and present good quality affordable machines like this one.

Replaced an ageing B&D that cut in all directions except straight. The Makita doesn’t look like much but when you use it the difference is amazing, light, powerful, controllable and accurate. The orbital modes make a big difference and it is now my “go to” power tool.
