This was purchased to replace my current and purely capable Giottos tripod. I just wanted to have the option of the 3 way centre column. Same excellent build quality as before. It’s a shame that Giottos as a brand is no more as they are excellently built.

This fantastic tripod offers superb build quality at a sensible price. The sturdy construction guarantees the great stability to hold every camera steady. The tripod features a pivoting centre column that can extend as a horizontal boom. Three different leg angle settings allows for the most versatible tripod positioning. This Giottos aluminnium tripod seems to be a little big and heavy but I am so happy that I bought it.
Very pleased with this Giottos Tripod. Very well made product and great value for the price. Ideal for the Amateur or Professional Photographer. This tripod is made to a high standard, and is of a quality as good as other more expensive well known brands. Check out other reviews on the web for further info. Recommend this Product for sure.

I have a Manfrotto 055 which I find too heavy and cumbersome whilst out so decided to purchase this. Am pleased I did. Great build quality and lighter to lug around which means I will use it more.
I spent a long time looking for a tripod at the right price for amateur stills and video use. I am not ready to spend on carbon fiber yet. You can pay anything from £8 to £250+ for an aluminum tripod. I have a Nikon D750 FX DSLR camera and even with a prime 50mm lens the camera is heavy, with a 24-120mm telephoto even heavier. I shoot video so I understand that 4 section tripods are more compact but can be very flexible whilst lightness often comes at the expense of stiffness. To shoot decent HD video you definitely need a fluid head. There are plenty of tripods around with friction pan and tilt heads, but they just aren't smooth enough for video panning. Once bought, most cheap tripods will not allow the head to be replaced. The other issue is the weight load spec. is often quoted for the pan and tilt head, when the tripod load can be lower! you will see some tripods sold as 5-8Kg, but that is often the head spec. The tripod itself may only be 3Kg! I was therefore looking for a headless tripod on which I could mount a cheap Yunteng fluid head with sufficient weight load for the head and camera with a modest telephoto lens. The fluid head did come with a small problem which I sorted. I hope using a relatively heavy head mount may help reduce mirror slap issues. The Giottos MTL-9351B is NOT a lightweight tripod coming in at 1.85Kg. But if you are panning with a fluid head you need a heavier solid tripod and this fits the bill. The MTL-9351B maximum weight capacity is 5Kg and that will be adequate for my camera and mount, with a little over for a sand bag. The tripod length when collapsed with my fluid head comes out at around 83cm, because it is a 3 section tripod. But you you get rigidity and that is the compromise for a tripod that will never fit in your pocket! At first I thought the MTL-9351b should have come with a bag because all the cheap tripods sell with bags. But adding the fluid head increases the closed length by 150mm and it is likely a supplied bag would be too short. All good shooters know that you should avoid raising the tripod center section if possible. With my 150mm high fluid head, the D750 eyepiece is just at the right height with the center column fully collapsed. I'm not sure how much I will use the MTL-9351B features but I may grow into using them. At the moment I just want a stable tripod for DSLR video and stills, without going up in size and weight to a pro video tripod. For the price I paid for the MTL-9351B, + £30 for the fluid head and +£11 for an 90cm tripod bag, I think I have a pretty good tripod combo.Read full review
