The Dean Vendetta I received was not like the "Stock" picture even though the seller assured me it would be. Too bad, because I liked the stock pic version much better than the big "Vendetta" block letters I got. Not the end of the world though... It really needs a set up but sounds pretty descent right out of the box. The Hummers have a good, crunchy rock sound with good tone control. But, as you might expect from a low end guitar, it does feel kinda cheap. The fret wires are sharp and catch your hand as you slide up and down. They desperately need to be filed down (toss the strings while you're at it). The tremolo throws it instantly out of tune but that's really no big deal. Most likely an easy fix. For all it's short comings, $99 bucks is a fair trade off! I've been playing for over 30 years and the Vendetta will suit my needs because I bought it to try a custom paint job on the body and I doesn't make sense to attempt that on an expensive guitar. After a good set up and some tweaking, I think this will be a cool, playable addition to my collection! I gave this Vendetta 5 stars because it truly is an amazing value for $99 (compared to more expensive, quality guitars, it would be a 1 or 2 at best). Much, much better than other guitars near that price range. Kudos to Dean! Read full review

The reason I gave it 5 stars is that you will NEVER EVER find a better guitar for 100 bucks! The action, tone, noise level, pick-up power and joy of playing are all way above the price. Highly recommended if you're just looking for a good beater or as a name brand entry level that you don't have to go through the shame of buying at Walmart.

Only complaint is a bad volume pot (but I replace entry level electronics anyway). Take the pole pieces out of the pickups for a much more Strat like sound (it already leans in that direction with it's 25.5 scale and Fender style tremolo). A keeper after replacing the crap electronics (cleanly soldered but not reliable). The pickups are a keeper too with the pole pieces (screws) removed and the pickup height lowered/spaced properly).

Always a little apprehensive about buying something like this on line. When I got it, it was double boxed and when I opened it I was very pleased with the quality. Real nice guitar.

This guitar sounds fantastic, and is just a joy to play. It doesn't matter if you are a beginner or have been playing for a while, you will enjoy this guitar. Buy it! You won't be disappointed.
