I wasn't really sure what to expect when I bought this book, other than perhaps some behind the scenes insights into shows I loved, such as All Creatures Great and Small and of course, Doctor Who. From the first few pages of the intro, detailing the problems with even agreeing a title for the book with a publisher, I felt that I was reading a personal and authentic account, almost like I was listening to Peter tell me the stories himself. I think that is more or less the definition of what a well written autobiography should be, so I am impressed. The writing conveys his likeable personality, mixed with the not all glamorous reality of life. After reading just a dozen pages I had gained insight into how Peter saw several situations in his life and why he had made certain decisions, none of which I had heard or read anywhere before. So, it also delivers previously undisclosed insight, making it good value for money. I would recommend this book to anyone who has enjoyed Peter's performances in any of several popular TV series, as he mentions lots of interesting memories about those shows, as well as plenty more about his many stage appearances too.Read full review
