This 1996 doctor who movie was coproduced by the BBC and an american tv network has yet to be released in north america. This means you must have a all region dvd player like I own, to play it on your tv over here. There is no excuse for such a well produced and finely acted telemovie not be put out over here. Please email bbc america and ask them to put this out over here. If enough of us email them they will release it here too. Anyway this movie was done on a higher budget than the older tv series which it came from and it shows this it's in production values which are excellent. The story is as good as any of the older series best and is well worth adding to your sci fi collection. I personally love all the doctor who adventures but even for a non fan of doctor who , this is a great tale of good versus evil. This show has a international cast led by Eric roberts who does a fine job of playing a man whose body is taken over by the evil dead master's slimey soul. Both of the actors who play the doctor do a great job of acting as well and I would say that if you like the new series you will learn to love the older series as well. This movie will make a fine addition to any doctor who or sci fans collection.Read full review
The show had ended in 1989 after low rating, this was going new series for Americans, it didn't go as planned, so this was been a hour & a half pilot TV film instead. It was excellent.

The dvd is in great condition and the story is well thought out and acted. There is a more adult feel about the plot and a better handling of the cause and effects of regeneration. It is refreshingly free from the feel of Star Trek, is focussed more on the emotional, human aspect of the Doctor and is not too difficult for younger viewers to understand. A tricky plot but there’s a happy ending, and we know that the Master will turn up again in the future (or should that be the past?)

It was a good film, much prefer it to Whitaker. Really like Paul McGann and Eric Roberts. Very depressing at the beginning with the street gang. Very cool film, awesome! Thank's, from the Master.

A very worthwhile buy for any Whovian... Paul Magann is enchanting as the 8th Doctor joining old and new Who together perfectly. Sylvester McCoy portrays a wonderful 7th doctor coming to the end of his regeneration. Full of excitement and magic of the Doctor Who whomiverse..
