The best thing about this lathe is that is get a good tool for a small price. If you want to get into lathing without spending a fortune, this is the tool for you. The tool works great and does not take too much space. I cannot say much about the reliability of the tool. I have only owned the tool for a month now. There were a few problems I had to look into when the item arrived: 1) the connectors on the back of the drill head were loose (can be easily solved with small pliers); 2) the item came with a different power plug that shown in the picture.

I hope this help others to see how poor this item really is. It gives the false Impression when looking at it, don't be fooled as i have. Its very lite and cheap, if you work on miniature items it may be ok, I tried turning a simple round wood smaller, it couldn't cope with it, the higher speeds made it jump about all over the place, the speed control is just increasing the voltage on the power supply, which isn't as easy as it should be. The tail stock just moves all over the place regardless of how tight you do it. The motor isn't protected at the cable side which has caused mine to break in less than a week, there is NO earthing but saying that even if its not needed it would be reassuring to see it. There is no CE EU marking so not ideal for the UK. The free tools might as well go in the bin as they chipped on first use. Saying all this mine has been returned to the sell for a full refund. Theres a saying you get what you pay for, with this item that is so true.Read full review

Surprisingly powerful, haven't even had to move it from its lowest speed, and I've been turning hardwood pen blanks. That's with proper and very sharp woodturning chisels, mind. The tools that come with it are no good at all. Also you really need to change the rest, it's too high and too narrow, but you can soon knock one up out of metal or plastic. Takes up hardly any room, is great for sanding and polishing because of the high speed, and for the price is excellent.

This is a mixed review, on one hand it is very cheap, on the other hand it is pretty poor quality. The good points first 1) the motor is ok, well mounted and quite powerful for 24v 2) the chuck is decent and quite accurate 3) the bed ( price of alloy extrusion) is fairly rigid Bad points now 1) the tailstock clamping is totally useless and it's almost impossible to get set accurately 2) the tailstock bearings and"pin" are both poor quality and wear very very quickly allowing excessive wobble and. Ibration of the workpiece 3) the workpiece attachment is screw-in and pathetic, it often rips itself out of the workpiece which then has to be discarded 4) the tool test is a joke , clamping is a joke. The rest is a flimsy bit of 90 deg angle alloy. Far far too short and flimsy to do the job 5) the "woodworking tools" supplied are a total joke, may. be ok for balsa but not up to the job for even sapele or cherry let alone anything decent. The edge came off in just 40 seconds! All in all a bit useless but may suit you to just do a couple of bits every now and again. Do be award you will need to modify the tailstock and took rest plus beg, steal or borrow better toolsRead full review

I bought this lathe to get back into my wood carving hobby and perhaps turn it into a business. I recieved it in perfect condition apart from the plug which is one of those Chinese plugs. so I change it to an English plug kettle lead. other than that it is perfect.
