This is a great camera for all your memories, captured to the Digital 8 format. The camera can also record to Hi8 tapes, but no timecode will be present when you transfer it into your PC. It will also playback standard 8mm tapes. The 1394 firewire connection makes it easy to transfer & edit your footage. The night vision is good, but I can only see its use if you were doing a ghost watch video! No US, no widescreen, but very clear images for lasting memories.

Was purchased to allow me to access several tapes recorded in the Digital 8 format. Sadly I sold the previous camera without realizing that the format is unique to Sony.
I bought one for 40 euro but have a broken mother board. I work with 2 other cameras Sony DCR TRV-110 and make video in 16:9 WIDE format for Youtube HD. Works fine, and I use the firewire (i link) cable in my computer. One hint is have that SONY Electret Condensed Microphone ECM-HM1 for perfec audio. The D8 tapes today are costly, so I had to look for it on ebay and found some in good price. I have also underwater housings for this model.
