I bought a new olive splitter as I was stupid enough to lend my other. The Rothenburger model was essential to my home plumbing and restoration work. It's easy to use, gets into all those difficult places and does a very neat and accurate job whilst supporting the pipe below the target olive.I'm very satisfied and would recommend it to professionals and DIY-ers with equal vigour.

I have had the monument olive puller for over 10yrs and it works well but this will cut through a stubborn olives with ease, without damaging the pipe. So far I have only used on 15mm & 22mm pipes and it works perfectly. There are 2 shoulders either side of the blade, this prevents the blade hitting the pipe. You do need enough pipework to move the nut away to get the splitter onto the olive. This is worth the money rather than using a hacksaw and risking nicking the pipe. I will still be using the old puller as both will work in different situations. I've been a plumbing and heating engineer for nearly 30yrs and any gadget that helps me get the job done with less hassle is worth the money.

This is probably the best way of removing an olive without damaging the pipe and it works on any pipe size. The only downside is that it will not work on the stub that screws into a radiator as the compression nut gets in the way so some people may still require an olive puller.
