A shocking and most compelling portrayal, taken down to a personal level of one of the most shameful episodes in Russian history. Until the 1980's the germans were blamed for this genocide; the Allies probably knew the truth and the Russian adamantly denied it. One must question the false belief why Britain went to war - on the pretext that the Germans had invaded Poland, whilst we idly sat by and watched the Soviets carve up the other half. Maybe not an easy film with translation, to at first understand who is who and it sometimes seems to be slow in action, but certainly worth sticking with. I suggest every Russian should see it!!!! Certainly disturbing and thought provoking - a must see.
Very well made film of a tragic time in history. Depicting the pure evil in this world.

great true story.keeps you hoping to the end that it wont turn out the way it does.very horrific and tells us that the russians were in some casses as bad as the germans.100% worth the watch although in english subtitles its still verygood
This film covers, as my title says, a particularly horrid part of Soviet history and one which they have tried to hide at least once and probably will again, under the current (2014) leadership. Essentially, the film starts at the Soviet-German invasion of Poland and runs through the German and then Soviet occupation with the effect that the Katyn massacre had on the Poles, before finishing with what precisely happened, according to notes kept by one of the murdered Polish officers. Deliberately harrowing although quite difficult to understand (despite subtitles!) as characters are introduced during the film.
