Tense, gripping with a twist at the end - superb!
I recorded this film sometime ago on my Freesat box, meaning to watch it at sometime in the future. I usually just look at the listings and if a film looks half interesting I'll record it. If I find it not as good as the report, having watched the first half hour I usually dump it. I didn't dump this! What took my attention was that when it got to the lighthouse scenes, I realised that it was Llandwyn Island off Newborough Warren on Anglesey. I walk my dog there during the winter months and it is a beautiful, peaceful place. The film is gripping and really worth watching. Being one of the less publicised movies, it is likely that many avid film watchers have missed this one. You would do well to try and pick up a copy of this and settle down and watch it. A Beautiful and Haunting Mystery
After a personal tragedy, successful novelist Demi Moore tries to counteract her writer’s block by moving to a remote Scottish location. Here she strikes up a friendship with an amiable young lighthouse keeper. This relatively unknown film is well constructed, has an effective soundtrack and delivers just enough information to keep you constantly on edge. In addition, the cinematography is especially noteworthy, making great use of stunning coastal locations especially around the island of Anglesey in North Wales. I like a good thriller and Half Light with its mix of supernatural mystery & real life terror provides considerable suspense. Definately well worth seeking out - the lack of extras for both retail & rental DVD releases is symptomatic of the poor marketing for this ...
