3 stars seems harsh... It's really great, and I would definitely recommend it. There's just a few things so will do a quick list of some pros and cons in case it's helpful: Pros: - Nice screen - Easy to use - Great features (stand-outs so far are obviously the fact that it has an on-board route planning option, 'navigate to starting point' option, round trip option where you can set a distance and it will create a loop for you, etc.) - Loads of settings to sync the unit to your riding style - Much closer to a sat nav (what most novices like myself) are used to, as a lot of units on the market are much less detailed, i.e a line and an arrow Cons: - Can't reliably search for addresses. Bring a postcode for your destinations with you. This is a thing with all Garmin devices I've found, so car sat navs etc. too. It requires quite a bit of information to take you to the door of wherever you're going, so come prepared. - Battery life is good, but when the brightness is up high (for sunny days, for example) it definitely goes down quicker. Would recommend on-board charging capabilities for even medium rides - A few options seem to not work. These can be considered glitches, and don't affect the performance too much. According to the internet it's because the operating system it uses is also shared with another device that offers 1 or 2 more features, so it tempts you with things it can't do a little. - Taking you the slow way. I got the device for getting me out of a fix when I tour to Wales or somewhere alien to me, so I'm not too fussed with which way it takes me. However the first thing I did when I got it was set it to take me to and from work a couple of times, and it would invariably insist on going some pretty bad ways that I know aren't the quickest. Weird. Still worth planning your route a little so it's clear in your mind if you want to get somewhere as quickly as possible. Handy tip: You can change the riding type to a few things (without looking, tour cycling, fastest route, flattest route etc.) in the settings - in fact there's a tonne of setting options which is definitely a pro. *adds to list above* If you find an option that is greyed out, it might be one of the ones that the unit doesn't actually do (see cons above) or it might just be that you have to change the riding type to unlock them, so have a play around in the settings when you first get it, try everything out.Read full review

I have gone from the edge 25, which I enjoyed but, I wanted a Garmin that is just like my sat nav for cycle routes. This is perfect. The only thing I was disappointed with, was there is no Bluetooth to download ride to my phones Garmin Connect. It can be done by plugging into a computer but, I did like the Bluetooth sync.on the edge.
