This product now comes with a sponge applicator instead of the old cotton pad bound in paper. Whether it will last any longer, as it applies more lubricant than the previous mode I'm not sure. And whether I received an old drying-out applicator when I brought my first one I can't say, but it never seemed to have much lubrication in it from day one. A use by date would be helpful to date the age of the product. I like the sponge applicator as I can now drench or lightly oil the fretboard as I see fit, and, unlike the cotton applicator, it no longer leaves cotton residue attached to all of the strings, and something that needs a great deal of attention to remove. Disappointed to begin with, but now much happier with the change, as I can see the upside over the downside of the old one.

First time I've bought this. It may well do a good job as others report - it's too early for me to tell. I was surprised to see how little you get - a little stub about 1.5cm long - the rest is an empty plastic handle. There's no 'magic' ingredients - it just contains mineral oil, which you could wipe on yourself with a cloth. I get the feeling you're paying more for a brand name with this. I note there are similar, cheaper, unbranded products which may do the same job. I'll probably try these in the future.

I’ve been using these for over 20 years, the product has come a long way. I’d recommend using a different cloth than the one provides but it is truly a remarkable product that is very competitively priced and will last a very long time. I’ve not really tried other brands for very long but have used some, but always find myself coming back to these, and if it works why change it? Hopefully they won’t hike up the price in future but they don’t seem to ever want to do that. A lot of people who play guitar swear by this stuff, so if you know you know. May you enjoy your guitar strings for longer and improve your techniques because of it. It’s truly been a godsend for me in the past.

A quick rub of this stuff on the strings of my bass guitar makes them wonderfully smooth and resistance free. Somehow it does this without leaving them feeling "oily". My fingers no longer get bound up on them when trying to move quickly between frets and I can actually play better and faster! It also does a great job of reducing friction on my plucking fingers. It smells quite pleasant and is non-toxic, which is an added bonus, seeing as a small amount of it is going to end up on your fingers (but again, it doesn't leave your fingers feeling greasy or oily, which is quite magic). All round, a great product I wish I had discovered before now.

Gotta lube up before going hard, I use it after every string change, has turned me into a guitar god overnight, highly recommended.
