This radio is awesome, just love the base. But I can understand why some others would like a tone control, this would be useful if very high volume was needed without distortion to throw the sound accross a building site and overcome the house of machinery & power tools. I do find product placement by manufacturers, limiting features at a given price anoying. It would cost Makita nothing to incorporate Bluetooth & USB charging. Still, this can easily be done by the user if you don't mind invalidating the guarantee. Talking of which, don't forget to register all Makita products on thier Website when new to get a free three year Warranty. This was an incredible deal on eBay at less than half the list price. Really intuitive to use, have not needed the instruction manual, so easy. Keep up the LXT standard Makita, worrying there are something like 7 lithium Makita battery standards at present, it's that product placement thing again! However this radio will run on virtually any battery type except the "G" series. Maybe also the Makita Lithium batteries from tools purchased in B&Q might not fit. robust reliable affordable site radio. personally i dont think the sound balance is as good as the previous am/fm blue model but have to bear in mind the younger element prefer the bass to boom all day. think the sound balance can be adjusted but gave up trying to access the settings mode.

I am delighted with this workshop radio. The sound quality is excellent, good and bassy. The operation couldn't be simpler, and the battery lasts forever. I have been stuck inside my garage for three days toiling away renovating it with only this radio for company. I live in a pocket of poor dab reception, but the Makita is pulling in admirably, plus there is also the FM option if need be. One may think it a bit pricey for a mere radio, but its rugged construction has already saved it from harm when I accidentally knocked it from it's perch at the top of my trailer onto the concrete floor. I kid you not...there isn't a mark on it and it continues to operate perfectly, coupled with the long lasting battery and fast charger proves my hard earned cash was well spent on this work buddy. I also couple my mp3 into the aux input to listen to my favourite albums and store inside afterwards in the roomy battery compartment. It's a great all-rounder and well worth the investment. Bought hubby one of these for his birthday in Feb and he was thrilled, but I’ve been using it in my kitchen. The sound is fantastic and it’s loud. This radio is well constructed and the sound is outstanding. It is very easy to set up and change from FM to DAB with a press of the button, and on a 3.0A 18v battery lasts ages, so a 4.0A or 5.0A it will last longer and you still have the power cable as well.
