I have been very impressed with the Leica D-lux 3. Its fairly well built and very easy to handle. Ive spent a great deal of my life interested in photography specialising in rock bands. I started back in 1980 with canon A-1's then bought the Minolta 9000 when they came out then went to Nikon F4. One day I tried out a Leica R3 with Leica lenses. It proved my biggest mistake to date, that of believing there was nothing special about Leica lenses. Since that day nothing has touched the ability of Leica lenses to withstand heavy use whilst delivering photos that are simply significantly better. Ive been really disapointed with the quality of some of these lightweight Nikon lenses , good for about 8 weeks then they deteriorate rapidly with use. Ive got all the Leica bodies from R3, R4, R5, R6, R7 and had looked at the compacts as not being Leicas territory. They are of course no match for the top drawer Leica lenses and there is not a great deal to make them stand out. For me I like the great case the camera comes in and the general feel of being well built. It will surely outlive half a dozen of the standard compacts around. being a Leica its more likely to be looked after. having the RAW image capture is a great plus and of course there are a few treats instore amongst the well designed menus. Exposure has a habit of being consistently good. It does have a time lag between one photo and another possibly adding a second or two to what one could expect today but then this camera is maybe 7 yrs old.Read full review
Its very small, light and easy to use but is strong and sturdy and packed with lots of professional quality features. I particularly like the auto bracket and the clarity of the optics as well as the feedback from the digital display. It may only be 10.5mp but you would only notice quality on large blow up prints. For everyday use its outstanding and allows you to shoot lots of pictures without worrying about filling your memory card. The Scene mode is particularly good for point and shoot without thinking about settings. The starry sky mode produces fantastic night sky pictures on a tripod.

The Leica D-LUX 5 is a beautifully crafted, small-sensor camera that, with accompanying grip and EVF is a proper street machine. Compact and discreet, its 24-90mm lens means you can get in close or keep a little distance and always be discreet. Keep the ISO below 400 and shoot in raw, and youโll be surprised at just how capable this venerable little classic is.

For its age, the camera exceeded my expectations with its "body" being almost in mint condition. The screen, however, is not so bright as my previous Leica or Panasonic Lumix . As yet, I have not had any photos printed so unable to comment but, being a Leica, there should be no problem

It's a nice camera and takes a nice photo but it is pretty small and doesn't have a viewfinder.
