I bought this as I had broken my black Galaxy SII and needed another phone quickly. Stay with what you like is how I see it. At just over £100 for a "used phone" it was a very obvious choice. I also hate Apple products which are locked down to idiot proof, and so not configurable to my liking. Although this was an O2 supplied handset it was never locked to any particular network. It just had the O2 specific start-up screen that has now gone upon selecting a different network. If you're a heavy user the ability to change batteries part way through the day if needed (unlike iPhone) is very quick and easy without losing the time, date and alarm settings. Alternatively a bigger capacity battery is available. This is also slimmer and lighter than the Apple phones and has equal battery performance, yet more ability to tweak the phone to my liking. I can install apps for any region unlike the main rival Apple phones requiring accounts set up first in each country. The ability to root the phone and add custom roms (with care) can increase the menu option significantly and increase the phone capabilities. The camera is very good also at 8 mega pixels. The screen quality is good and responds very well. With 16Gb internal memory and the ability to add 32Gb micro SD card there is ample room for storing numerous photos, videos and music tracks. The issues: Too much cheap plastic and the fake chrome around the front edge comes off if not protected by a cover. All round a very good phone when purchased as "previously used" and although there are newer models this is still a very capable handset.Read full review
Having swapped from the original Samsung Galaxy Note, it was a simple decision to upgrade to the Note 2. What an exceptional device it is. With a quad core processor and 2GB of RAM it literally flies along with no lag and great features. The s pen makes note taking a joy. The multi windrow functionality takes advantage of the huge screen which, whilst large, doesn't make the handset cumbersome in the hand. Surprisingly, this incarnation of the Note is slimmer than the original version despite the larger screen. This has been achieved by utilising a smaller bezel around the screen which makes the handset seem smaller. The screen itself is amazing. With the ability to view movies and tv programmes with ease. The Galaxy Note 2 is a truly awesome smartphone that anyone will be delighted to own. A true icon.Read full review
This phone is very similar to the iPhone in the way it works and uses similar apps which are available from the Samsung store. Gives and receives good signal strength (unlike my old iPhone). Has a nice big screen to watch videos on. All the phones features are very easy to use. The home screen needed a bit of time and practice to get as I liked it though. If the sound is adjusted properly using the equaliser, again very easy to do, the music played through the phone is not too tinny. The only downside was the hours it took me to set up my contacts and getting the music transferred onto it. I found that the Kies software it uses (like the iPhones use iTunes) was very clunky, slow and not very user friendly. Also there are no clear instructions on using it. I eventually found the best way to put music on the phone was to plug it into the PC and copy and paste the music from my files into the media folders of the Galaxy. But all in all I am very pleased with the Galaxy.Read full review
