If you’re looking for a camera that’s easy to use but takes top quality pictures this is it. Probably not for the real enthusiast who likes full control over everything. But for a hobbyist to take on holiday it’s perfect. Huge 30x zoom. However all the extra zoom is at the telephoto end which is not that useful as even with image stabilisation you need to support the camera to get really sharp photos and the whole point of a compact camera is that you don’t carry a tripod or similar. For the price this camera is a bargain. In good light it produces well exposed photos with good colour satirisation to my eyes. 3 inch screen too which helps. No optical viewfinder but hardly any compacts now have them. My trusty old Sony Dsc W130 has one though so why not the new models? They are easier to use in bright sunlight. The Geo tagging is handy when visiting several places to identify where photos were taken.Read full review

Already fallen in love with it, needed a camera to take to me for gigs and concerts as they only allow point and shoot ones. After browsing over hundreds of reviews this was meant to be some of the best for dark lit areas, first gig is in December so will be able to fully review this afterwards, but as an overall point and shoot piece this camera is perfect for any beginner. Recommendations: a large sized memory card as you'll be hard find a seller providing one free and a second battery unit as this is a powerful camera and quickly drains battery !

I brought this camera as I wanted the flexibility of manual control with the convenience of a compact camera. I have not been disappointed, this takes great shots and has a wealth of features such as 30x zoom , Wi-Fi and GPS. All in all a very sound buy.

Small, well made compact camera from Sony. 20 megapixels for fairly large prints if needed. 4.2 = 20 megapixels or 18 megapixels aspect ratio of 3.5 (3.5 is the normal 35mm image size) Use on full auto-exposure, aperture/shutter priority or full manual control. Huge 30x zoom & image stabilisation. Exposure compensation made simple by inclusion of top of camera control dial. Electronic spirit level for level horizons. The best part for me is the luxury of setting the camera to take up to 5 exposures with one click and the camera combines them into one image so no need for expensive HDR software. Seriously thinking of selling my Canon DSLRs & using this instead.

A great little camera which takes fantastic photos (&, being a professional photographer, I'm fussy). Most compacts these days are lightweight in every sense of the word & the image quality is usually poor, but this one is good. Not the smallest or lightest things to carry & won't slide into my back pocket, but it packs in a lot of settings, almost as many as an SLR. The only flaw (& echoing another review I read after buying) is that the settings are a bit TOO easy to change, & it's easy to do it without meaning to - the other day I took a load of shots on sepia without realising. I bought mine second hand & refurbished & it was definitely worth the £120 I paid.
