Two generations of Nissan 300ZX cars

Z31, the first generation of 300ZX cars, was produced from 1983 to 1989. Body styles include the three-door coupe and the 2-plus-2. Transmissions mostly consist of 5-speed manual, but you can find Z31 models with 4-speed automatic transmission. The first generation has five different engines, four of which were V6 engines and the other was an inline-six. By 1986, turbo models began featuring flared fenders, side skirts, and 41-cm wheels. Some of the black plastic trim pieces were painted the same colour as the car's body. Nissan removed the bonnet scoop from turbo models in 1986 and added aerodynamic bumpers in 1987. The brand also began installing fog lamps in the front air dam. The 1984 and 1985 300ZX cars are sometimes referred to as Zenki and models from 1987 and 1989 are nicknamed Kouki.

Z32, the second generation, has a rounder profile, softer edges, and a wider body. The drag coefficient was increased to 0.31 from 0.30. Body styles include the two-door convertible, three-door coupe, and 2-plus-2. Engines are still six-cylinder for the Z32 with the addition of a twin-turbocharged engine. The series includes vehicles with 4-speed automatic and 5-speed manual transmissions. Nissan produced Z32 models from 1989 to 2000.

Are there any special releases?

The first generation has two special models: the 50th-anniversary edition and the Shiro Special. The 50th-anniversary edition was released in 1984 and featured more luxury features than previous Z31 models. Nissan's Shiro Special featured performance upgrades and was released in 1988. It features 26-millimetre and 25-millimetre anti-roll bars, high-rate springs, non-adjustable Koni shocks, Aisin-built five-speed manual transmission, and cloth Recaro seats.
