I've only had the opportunity to use this planer one time so far. But I used it on a large log planing down the end grain and it worked amazingly!! Looking forward to doing the same thing on the next wood disc I have planned. By the way I'm a first time user of this type of tool š

I guess I was naive to think this was an American-made product, based upon the WEN company's "God bless American company from the heartland" kind of self promotion. It is almost identical to the Harbor Freight model that disintegrated due to the plastic melting around the cutting drum bearing. I little too much work with it caused deterioration of a key component... the bearing housing for the blade drum. I didn't take this WEN model apart to inspect how it was built, but it sure looks like the same design and finished tool as the China-built Harbor Freight product, just a different color plastic body. On the box, it states "Made in China". Probably OK for an occasional shaving of a door or other light work. But don't push it too far, this is not a tool made to last your lifetime.

Ok let me start by saying Iām a dewalt guy all the way every tool I own is dewalt. Well after using my dewalt planer 3 1/4 for a year on less than 30 projects it locked up on me. So I decided I would try what my buddy had WEN 3 1/4 planer 6amp. Been few months now it out performs dewalt in every category. Just ordered the wen 13in planer. These wen products are great tools 6 stars

I went through 300 ft. of redwood 2x6 with 30 years worth of stain and lacquer with ease. There was a learning curve however when adjusting the depth and planing through hard knots, a few deep grooves now and then but worked as well as I imagined. Handy for rough carpentry but I would recommend a table model for more exact finished carpentry.

Strong build quality which is nice. Comes nicely packed and ready to go. There are a couple of guide attachments included, too. It's a great tool to have and works very well. I do wish that it came with some sort of case/bag so that I can keep the pieces together when I store it. Regardless, it's definitely worth having one of these.
