I have a horrid slice. I had tried to correct it through lessons changing my backswing follow through and everything in between. I purchased this club on a whim but it has been my best golf purchase yet. 1 afternoon at the range and I can control the ball like never before. I can fade it, slice it and actually hit it straight. I purchased the stiff but would like to try the regular. Pros- Better feel and ball control. Cons- the T where you would line it up is black and hard to use. I do not hit as far as I used to but the ball ends up where I want it. Not a big fan of the mustard yellow. I would suggest this club to anyone who has a slice and is willing to give up 20-30 yards off the tee.
The r7 Draw 460 is a nice club. But, it really doesn't do much for the average guy. I think these big headed drivers really won't make it easy to draw the ball. Once they started making driver heads over 360 cc, the workability of the ball started to diminish. Oh sure, I can slice any most any club. It's the oldest story in the market place, "promise them what they want to hear". Don't get me wrong, they make a solid, well designed product, but moving the screws around just keeps the buyer thinking, "if I just get them in the right places, my game will improve". The r7 460 driver has no screws to tinker with. It proves the best club maker in the business can't really full fill the promise. I'd love to see an undoctored video of Iron Byron hitting the r7 draw and making the ball draw. And oh yes, at an average swing speed. WILL IT DRAW? Good luck with your purchase of the r7 Draw or the New Super Promise. Oh, I mean the New Super Quad. That's it, my honest review.Read full review
I love this driver! I have the TaylorMade r5 and had reasonably good success with it but it was time for a new driver. The feel of the r7 for me is lighter than the r5, which actually makes me wait a little longer to start my downswing at the top which has improved my timing. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the grip was slightly undersized and a 'Softie" grip which works well for me because of my smaller hand size. With the slight draw advantage to this club I do have to watch that I don't come up too quickly turning left with it but on those slight mishits where my body is too fast the club should help stop the extreme slicing. I'm very pleased with the TaylorMade drivers even though my other clubs are Calloways. I had a Calloway driver before the r5 and really didn't like the feel of it.Read full review
Just used my R7 draw 9* for the first time today. It was exactly what I was expecting it to be. With previous drivers I have been hitting 220-230 yards and losing tons of distance because of a nasty slice. Not an "on the tree line slice", an "in the next fairway slice". Today 240-260 yards in the air, for the most part fairly straight.(70%). Even a couple of hooks. With this club now in my arsenal, and a little putting practice, I might even make it to a 20 handicap someday. I cant say that it would work for everyone, depending on your natural swing, but it works wonders for me. I'd say give it a shot.
Wow! This club immediately added 20 - 30 yards to my drive and hits so easily that you do not need to try and overswing! The r7 replaces an inexpensive Wilson 460cc driver which began cracking along the crown-face line. My first outing with it was at a local nine-hole with no driving range, so I just unleashed it. The first hole is straightish par 4 at 360 yds middle tees with a tree-line protecting a road on the right that is a true ball magnet. Having never hit the club, I just took it easy and wanted to make clean contact. I did to the tune of a drive that was 2 irons shorter than my previous drives! Most highly recommended!
