I was looking to replace my draw driver with one with a neutral face angle, and was actually searching for a Ping G-10 when I happened across a listing for the Rapture. When new Ping sold these for about a $100 premium compared to the G series drivers. I really like the Rapture driver. It sets up well visually to the ball and the feel and sound of the ball off the face is good and solid compared to the hollow ringing sound of my old Cleveland HiBore driver. Distance is at least as good as anything else I hit and I've been able to land most of my drives in the fairway. I am very happy with Ping Rapture driver. My model has 12 degrees loft and a R flex shaft.
This may be an older driver but it is one of PINGs all time greats. At 460cc's its at the legal limit and with the composite crown it has some nice tech built in, I also belive it is the best sounding 460cc driver EVER by any company. Club is a very low spin head and wants to go straight or a little right, its a little more difficult to hit the ball left than most other PING drivers. Only down side is miss hits seem to be a tad less forgiving than other 460cc drivers. Overall you need to try this club and check out one of my all time favorites!!
This is my first Ping driver. After reading the reviews on many Ping drivers,I decided to go with this model, the Rapture. I cant compare it to other Ping drivers, never hit any others, but comparing to Titleist drivers, and Mizuno, I like this Ping Rapture alot. The pop off the club is solid. The Aldila shaft seems like a good match for it.well balanced. Alot of forgiveness off-center.and easy to stay accurate. You can tell the Ping Rapture is a top quality driver. The one I bought is fairly used. I might want a newer (fresher) one after a while.A bargain for about 60 bucks.
I traded in my Ping G5 irons thinking the Ping Raptures had to be much better. Why? Because they cost more and had the magic words, "titanium", "tungsten", etc etc. After 3 weeks (I'm a 13 handicap) I sold the clubs and bought another set of Ping G5s. A costly lesson learned. The Raptures had no feel and distance was less than my G5s. Balls felt clunky coming off the face of the club. There was little feedback with extreme difficulty to work the ball. The shaft on my XRaptures were regular, but the CSLite on the G5s were more responsive resulting in further hits. The Raptures should sell for half the price vs what they really give you in performance. The cheapest Tour Edge Irons were even better. billr9994
For one to find a right driver, he/she has to find the right combination of head & shaft - and it's not a easy task at all. With over dozens of driver model tested, this one by far gave me the most thrilling experience. This is the first time I could just line up my ball, close my eyes, and swing at it - and when I opened my eyes, I see shots deviating within +/- 5 degrees. It's so simple it's silly. My confidence about my driver just got greatly boosted - with distance as well! I gained an average of 15 yards out of this driver! Lastly, this composite driver gave out such a nice sound of impact that I almost forgot about its carbon component. I don't know if this driver is the right fit for you, but it's definitely a pity if you don't give it a shot.
