I bought this set as a replacement for some more forgiving clubs that I deemed did not allow me to work the ball as much as I liked. Other reviews said that the i15's were a good compromise between blades and clubs for the higher handicapper. I have been steadily working my handicap down into the mid to low teens, and the thinking was that with better clubs I could continue that trend. I also took advantage of the pricing, which Ping has reduced (probably to make way for the introduction the G-20's and the other 20 line to come.) My son just bought a set of Mizuno's which is comparable for three hundred dollars more. My experience after the first few rounds has been mixed -- in large part because they are exactly what I wanted. The clubs do let me work the ball more, but at the expense of the larger sweet spot. They feel great when hit right, but since lately I am no more than a twice a month golfer, I have not gotten to the point of consistency that I need in order to take advantage of their capacity. I find overall they are as long or longer than my former set, allow me to get a bit more spin and control when hit right, and have a consistently high loft allowing for good control on the green. They feel very nice in my hands -- good weighting, and the dot system allows you to get the right head angle and shaft length. I had hit with black dots at local shops, so the set fit me well right out of the box. I think I will like these the more I play with them. Now if I can just play a few times a week...Read full review
I am a 9.4 handicap, but can go north or south of that depending on what swing I take to the course on any given day. I have three young kids who are active in multiple sports and I am on the road with my job a lot, so I dont get to practice as much as I would like, but who does? I was last playing the Taylor Made Burner irons with Project X shafts. Nice club, but wasnt clickin' the irons like I used to, and felt like they had too much bounce. That plus the fact that TaylorMade comes out with a new iron / driver every 3 months or so just drove me nuts.... Started looking for new irons and was leaning toward the Mizuno JPX 800 Pros. Actually ordered them, then hit the PING i-15s just for something to do, and boy was I surprised! I actaully caught myself saying 'WOW' at least 5 times during the bucket of balls that I hit with them, and it was then that I realized the right iron for me was in my hand. I cancelled the Mizuno order and got the PING i-15s, and to say I am pleased is an understatement. In the past, I couldn't even look at the Ping irons. Too square and clunky. I still cant look at the G series. However these irons actually look good and the performance is amazing. I see a lot of reviews saying these irons are for the low handicapper, but I would have to say they are more geared toward the mid-handicapper, I would say up to a 15 hcp would be happy with these. I tend to hit shots out toward the toe from time to time, and I noticed this didnt really matter as much with the i-15s, I think mainly becasue of the tungsten weight they incorporate into the toe of the club that makes the iron more forgiving for shots struck toward the toe. What it comes down to in the end is finding the right set FOR YOU. What I found is that Ping has a great fitting system that will get you in the right club for lie angle, shaft stiffness, shaft length, etc..., which I think is the MOST IMPORTANT aspect of your next set of clubs. It just happened that I was the standard black dot, and went with the Ping AWT Stiff shaft. I was surprised at the performance and feel from a stock shaft, as I have always been a 'shaft snob' in the past with my Project X and Diamana preferences. Well, all of my TaylorMade stuff is now on Ebay and I am a Ping convert. Try them for yourself, you wont be disappointed!! Try the rest of the i15 line too, driver, 3 wood, utility.... good stuff..Read full review
Before you purchase these irons make sure you get fitted by a reputable fitter. These irons are for the better player with a handicap of 5 or less. I had Callaway tour forged before I got fitted with the Ping I15 and the biggest surprise is the weakness of the pings. I should have paid more attention to the loft differences plus the launch angles. Even though the pings are only 1 to 2 degrees weaker the lower launch angle cuts the distance. If you want accuracy at the cost of distance then these irons are for you. The better players prefer accuracy to distance that is why these irons are so popular with better golfers. My accuracy has improved by 50% but I will have to get use to the 5 to 7 yard loss of distance and that should come with use. Plus one big factor that should be considered is that I have yet to use these irons in the summer time. I may be surprised when the weather gets warmer. You will love the wedge in this set. The feedback of the ball striking the club is great for around the green chipping. My handicap is 3 and I have been playing golf for 46 years.Read full review
Wow! These are awesome clubs. Also, the seller charged a very, very reasonable price. They even included the original shafts at no charge! I am extremely happy.

Ping I15 irons with the Cushin metal shaft added feature eliminates most vibration from off center hits. Feels like a graphite shaft but with the accuracy of steel shaft hit shots. I sold my 2006 TaylorMade CGB iron set after hitting the Ping I15 demos at a local golf range and seeing and feeling the difference. The TaylorMade cgb irons have stronger lofts than the Pings which promotes more length to shots but the pings were more consistant in both distance and accuracy.
