The Art of Electronic Music is an excellent book because it covers several important areas such as the designers, the synthesizers, history of synthesizers, and of course the famous electronic musicians who use them. The book gives the reader a glimpse into the inner workings, ideas and thinking of this golden era. Famous artists are included such as Keith Emerson of ELP, Vangelis, Isao Tomita, Larry Fast, Wendy Carlos, Klaus Schultz from Tangerine Dream, Suzanne Ciani, Roger Powell, Brian Eno, Patrick Stewert, Yan Hammer, Michael Boddicker, Kraftwerk and many others. The most legendary synth designers are also included. Examples are Bob Moog, Alan Pearlman, Tom Oberheim, Dave Smith, John Chowning, and of course Donald Buchla. This is a must have book for any serious electronic music library and is very enjoyable reading.Read full review
Really comprehensive history of Electronic Music...yes...a gathering together of Electronic Music Magazine articles...and all the better for it. Great interviews with, literally, the makers & shakers of the sounds and techniques that todays Sound Manglers have inherited...a truly brilliant jumping-off point!!
