The Poly Evolver is a truly amazing instrument capable of sweet analog or cutting digital sounds. The interface is a bit confusing, and the potentiometers somewhat difficult to work with. However, the sheer flexibility of the routings and modulation capabilities available more than makes up for it. The synth looks great, and feels well-made otherwise, although I'd still get a good hard case for it. The keyboard action is responsive, and the aftertouch adds a lot of expressiveness. The thing with the poly evolver, the big thing for me anyway, is that the combo mode is the easiest to use of any synth I've ever played or owned. I give the Poly Evolver a solid 4.5/5. It's not your bread-and-butter, do it all analog synth like the Andromeda, nor is it your go-to for searing leads and phat bass like a Moog Voyager. The Evolver sits in a category of its own, one that's welcome in any production.Read full review
This is one of Dave Smith's earlier synths and it is a real classic. It's sonic capabilities are daunting. Everything from mellow atmospheric evolving textures to wicked FM synced madness. It's ability to process stereo audio signals is a rare feature. Programming it is "meh" but with the editor it makes it much easier. I'm keeping mine until it just breaks.

I am a huge fan of Dave Smith products and this is a gem and is one of my favorite synths of all. I own about 100 different keyboards from various companies, and this is in the top 5!
