Great crystal clear sound and solid build quality. Aggressive sound character, at least in the sounds I've made with it. Discontinued now and very likely to become a classic in the future. It's why I bought it, having never had the pleasure of playing any of Dave's synths before. I've bought several synths not having an opportunity to demo them first, and I'm rarely disappointed. I do my research first, and I strongly recommend that you do the same if you plan to drop the cash on a piece of professional gear like this. Know what you are buying first and ask others their opinions before making a decision. This isn't a do everything keyboard. It won't sample, it has limited FM capability, and plays only one note at a time hence the Mono in it's name. Absolutely need more than one voice? Buy a Poly Evolver instead if you can afford it. But it just sounds wonderful, Great analog LP filter. It also has a pretty easy to use sequencer once you wrap your head around it which won't take long. I'm trying to think of a negative aspect of this keyboard and I really can't. If it has any foibles at all they didn't bother me any. I would buy anything from Dave Smith Instruments. He surely doesn't make anything half assed.Read full review
It takes quite a while to wrap your head around, but it is an instrument that rewards your time and knowledge with amazing sounds. It's easily the most complex and robust mono synth I know of, but I don't know if I'll ever have the time to devote to it. I mean, name another mono synth that can do this, live, one take, no overdubs: w w w. YouTube dot com/watch?v=qv-XslQvhYY
